Teaching what I know.
Maths, physics, Python, and how to actually get a project out into the world. Aimed at beginners and at students still working out who they are and what they want.
Why I care about this
I was terrible at maths at about twelve. Not slow, just properly turned off it, because the way I was thinking about it was wrong and nobody had spotted that. Then physics came along and showed me what all of it was for, and it clicked. Everything I have done since sits on top of that moment.
So the lessons here are applied. If I cannot show you what a thing is for, I have not finished explaining it.
Who I am aiming at
Mainly students between 14 and 17. That is the age where the spark either catches or it does not, and I would like to be one of the people who helps it catch. If you are a complete beginner at any age, you are welcome here too.
I have taught for a while now. Two years tutoring in Trinidad, three years as a teaching assistant at university across optimisation, control systems, intelligent mobile systems and the robot design lab, and a year teaching programming privately online.
I am open to mentoring. If that is you, or your school, or your kid,get in touch.
First up
Calculus 1, but applied
Derivatives and integrals introduced through things that actually move, rather than as rules to memorise.
Algebra that earns its keep
The bits you will keep using for the rest of your life, and why the rest of it exists.
Kinematics from scratch
Physics and maths together, which is the order they should have been taught in all along.
Building this out
- The three lessons above, written properly
- Interactive demos inside each lesson, so you can poke the maths
- A beginner track that runs start to finish
